Five Reasons to Give

through the Mitchell@Work Law Firm and Corporate Challenge

#1 Everybody’s doing it

Well not exactly everybody, but 84% of alumni at Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner gave last year.

#2 Because you didn’t get a scholarship, and you should have

Each year Mitchell loses top-notch students to other schools that can offer more scholarship support, and each year Mitchell is unable to provide scholarship support to numerous deserving students. We can only change that with your help.

#3 The Mitchell Mix

From former cops to legislators, electrical engineers to entrepreneurs, your classmates brought real-world perspectives that enlivened debate and enhanced your law school experience.

#4 It’s Practically Painless

You can give online easily—choose to make an annual gift or an affordable monthly payment of as little as $5 per month.

#5 Practical Wisdom

The college’s practical approach to legal education is now a growing national trend with law schools all over the country scrambling to emphasize more practical skills training—something Mitchell has been doing for over 110 years.

You can make a difference in a student’s life in many ways.

What it is

It’s a competition, plain and simple. And it’s between Mitchell alumni to see whose law firm or corporation can generate the highest giving rate to William Mitchell. Sure, it’s supposed to be friendly. But do you really want to lose to the other guys? We didn’t think so.

How it works

If your firm or business has 8 or more Mitchell alumni, you can play. (If not, hire more Mitchell alumni.) The rules are simple: get as many of your Mitchell alumni colleagues as possible to give to Mitchell—the firm or company with the highest giving rates wins. (The amount doesn’t matter, but we’d be lying if we didn’t say more is better than less.)

Think you have what it takes? In 2011, Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner gave at an 84-percent rate. So this year, better set your sights on 90 percent if you want a shot at the title.

You might want to get started now; the Challenge runs from Feb. 20 to June 30, 2012. You can check your progress (as well as that of the competition) online here.

What you get for playing

As if crushing the competition isn’t reason enough to give, the winners also get this: bragging rights and a spot on Mitchell’s Wall of Honor. That’s right: Wall. Of. Honor. Everyone else gets listed on our website, in our alumni magazine, and in our annual donor report. But you want to be on the Wall, don’t you?
