Borrowing from Other Libraries
Students, faculty (including adjuncts), and staff of William Mitchell College of Law may borrow circulating items from other libraries if the items are not available in our library. Other libraries will also provide photocopies of articles or book chapters (within copyright constraints) in sources we don’t own.
Begin by checking our catalog to see if we own the material you need. The reference staff may also be able to save you time by finding a full-text electronic version in one of our databases.
* Reference@wmitchell.edu or (651) 290-6424
If you can’t find the material you need, fill out the appropriate form and submit.
Turnaround time
Materials generally arrive within a week, but may take longer, depending on where the item is coming from and the lending library’s response time. You may check on the status of an ILL request by contacting the circulation staff.
* Circulation@wmitchell.edu or (651) 290-6333
You will be notified by e-mail or telephone depending on your preference when your material arrives.
Returns/ renewals
The lending library determines the length of time you may borrow the item (usually 2-4 weeks). Permission to renew an item is also at the discretion of the lending library. You must request a renewal, if needed, before the due date.
Return items borrowed through Interlibrary Loan to the circulation desk at the Warren E. Burger Library.
Overdue/lost/damaged
The borrower is expected to pay for any lost or damaged materials and for any overdue fines for materials returned after the due date. The fine for overdue ILL materials is determined by the lending library.
