Group Study Rooms

Seventeen study rooms are located on the library’s lower level. Student study groups can reserve a room for up to two hours by filling out a room sign-up form at the circulation desk. If no other group has reserved the room after that period, the room may be reserved again for up to an additional two hours.

Reservations for study rooms can be made a day or more in advance by contacting the circulation desk. Advance reservation requests must include the date and time a room is needed, room preference, and the number of people who will be using the study room.

Individuals may use open study rooms, but they must vacate a room when asked to do so by a group. Individual users may not reserve study rooms.

Study rooms are opened by passing a William Mitchell student ID card over the card readers located outside the door of each room.

The rooms are available for use by current students only and all study room users are required to observe the study room rules of conduct.

Carrels

Study carrels may be reserved by faculty research assistants, law review staff, students preparing for law school competitions, and students working on the Advanced Research & Writing long paper requirement.

Carrel reservations cover one semester and may be renewed for an additional semester if the holder remains eligible. Application forms for reserved carrels forms are available at the circulation desk.

All library materials stored in a carrel must be checked out to the user and kept on the top shelf of the carrel with the date due slip visible. Materials that are not checked-out or that are non-circulating are subject to reshelving by the library staff.

Any patron may study in an unoccupied carrel.  However, a patron must move from a reserved carrel when it is needed by the student who has reserved it.
