FOX 9 News recently did a story about how Joel Anderson ’11 worked with adjunct professor Paula Duthoy to keep a father and his daughter together as she fought for her life.
Anderson was a student at Mitchell working in the college’s Immigration Clinic when Duthoy, who oversees the clinic, assigned him the case involving a man in the country illegally who was about to be deported even though his daughter, a U.S. citizen, was undergoing cancer treatment.
Anderson put the practical wisdom he’d gained in Mitchell’s classrooms to work—researching, interviewing, writing, and arguing before a judge—and eventually secured a deferred deportation for the man.
