A thank-you 50 years in the making

In half a century at William Mitchell, Professor Doug Heidenreich has probably never had a night like he had January 23, when 150 people turned out to thank and honor him for his 50 years of service.

The evening featured stories, food, and of course some words from the man himself. Heidenreich also received a one-of-a-kind gift: A serenade from Information Desk receptionist Aja Pridgen, who sang “My Funny Heidenreich” to the tune of the old standard, “My Funny Valentine.”

The reception was also a chance for people to contribute to the recently-endowed Douglas R. Heidenreich Scholarship, which has already surpassed $75,000.

“It’s wonderful to see how so many staff, faculty, students, alumni, and friends have contributed to the scholarship,” said Professor Greg Duhl, who led the scholarship effort. “It’s just a great way to show support for Doug and for Mitchell.”
