Join the Ruby R. Vale Corporate Law Moot Court

Attend one of these two information sessions and learn more:

  • Thurs., Sept. 1:  11:30 – noon, Room 220
  • Thurs., Sept. 1:  5:30-6:00 p.m., Room 220

Competitions Coordinator Renate Behrendt will host two short information sessions for all interested students. This moot court is open to all student who have either completed or are concurrently enrolled in (1) Writing & Representation: Advocacy; and (2) either Agency, Partnerships, and LLCs or UCC – Sales. Participation is limited to 16 students on a first come-first served basis with the last possible join date being Friday, September 16.

The Vale Moot Court is a competition for Mitchell students interested in the following benefits:

  • Learning more about business law
  • Building your resume
  • Improving your oral advocacy skills
  • Increasing your legal research and writing skills
  • Earning one pass-fail credit
  • Experiencing the fun of applying the skills you’ve obtained.

Participants will begin by researching a legal issue and practicing their oral skills. In the late fall, participants will be paired into two-person teams and write appellate briefs. The teams then present oral arguments to panels of judges. The winning team will have the opportunity to compete in the Ruby R. Vale Corporate Law Moot Court Competition at Widener University School of Law in March 2012.
