IP - Intellectual Property Licensing (3612)

This course examines the process of licensing intellectual property rights. Subjects covered in detail include conception, valuation, ascertaining licensing partners, taxation of licenses, international aspects of licensing and others. This course has a heavy skills component. As such, students will negotiate, draft, and critique various clauses in a license agreement. The aim of the course is to identify a technology, identify a partner, determine value, and draft a complete one entire license agreement by the end of the term.

Grading: Exam

Prerequisite(s): Any one of the following: IP - Patent Law I, IP - Copyright Law, IP - Trademark Law, or IP - Foundations.
